Day 2 started off light, but a fresh breeze started to pick up at lunch time and competition eventually got underway late in the afternoon. Using the new best move format they managed to run the whole first round, lining up some killer heats for tomorrows action.
The first round is a knockout round for all the lower seeds. They battle it out to see who will progress into the second round against the top 16 seeds. The heats were 10 minutes long with the best 3 moves out of 6 counting on each tack. This really allows the sailors to focus on big moves especially in the gutsy conditions found in Austria.
Good news for the Brits was that Andy Chambers advanced easily into the next round. He will now face Kiri in round 2.
Another standout performance was noted from Belgium sailor Van Broekhoven. He took down some serious scalps at the recent EFPT and was looking good in Podersdorf. He now faces Kevin Mevissen who must be a little worried.
Also advancing were Ruben Petresie, Michael Sumereder, Quincy Offringa, Egor Propretinskly, Tom Foda, Levi Lenz, Niklas Strahlen, Lorenz Forstenlechner, Andreas Olandersson, Chris Sammer, Maarten Van Ochten, Mattia Pedrani, Tine Slabe and Max Matissek.
Tomorrow sees the top seeds hit the water for the first time, so the action should be intense!
