This is a great initiative from the guys at Southampton University Windsurf Club. Each Wednesday the club takes a mini bus load of students down to the Watersports Academy in Sandbanks, where everyone can get out on the water and learn our great sport. Not only have had they had a lot of fun, but also got loads of beginners hooked already.
On May 14th 40 students heading down for their beginners festival/ student piss up. The day started out with some good planing winds which gave everyone a good chance to show off what they had learnt. Then just as Pimms o\’clock was approaching the wind shut off giving perfect BBQ weather.
Prizes were awarded to most improved and keenest members and a tropical palm tree was awarded to the centre staff.
These trips have rocketed the club’s popularity and allowed people of all levels to experience the joys of windsurfing. The club has been running for 30 years and is now one of the biggest in the country.
SUWC would like to say a big thanks to the guys at The Watersport Academy for helping out and letting them use all the great gear.
