Day 3 saw slightly lighter conditions for the PWA Freestyle event in Lanzarote, but that didn\’t stop the moves coming. Using the new judging system, sailors are scored on the best 4 moves in each direction, allowing them to push the limits further and go for the big power moves.
In the women\’s, Sara Quita continued her impressive form, taking another victory with some powerful switch stance moves. Laura had to settle for second, whilst the 3rd and 4th place play off was a battle of the twins, with Daida taking 3rd from her sister Iballa in 4th.
The mens round saw a few upsets that really mixed up the results from the first double elimination. After impressive displays on Days 1 and 2, Brawzinho struggled in the lighter conditions and lost to an on form Paskowski, who then went on to get 4th. Another sailor finding his rhythm today was Norman Gunzlein. A killer heat in the quarter final saw him knock out Campello and he eventually finished an impressive 3rd.
However the 2 sailors to beat today were Kiri Thode and Gollito. Both advanced through to the final with convincing form. The final was loaded with moves and on the beach it was too close to call. There had to be a winner however and today Gollito took the victory, along with the overall lead.
So at the end of Day 3 the results are:
1st Sara Quita Offringa
2nd Laura Treboux
3rd Diada Moreno
1st Gollito Estredo
2nd Kiri Thode
3rd Marcillo Browne
However it can all change tomorrow in the double elimination, so check back tomorrow to see who will be on top.
