Registration day in Pozo turned out to be one of the best days of the year. Unfortunately there was no competition today, but our sources say the conditions were as good as it gets in Pozo with logo high waves and the usual strong winds.
The talk on the beach was all about young Philip Koester. At only 14 years old he is by far the youngest sailor entered but his on the water performance had everyone looking scared. He nailed some perfect doubles and then made 4 near perfect pushloop forwards. Having only started trying them last week its clear he is a fast learner. It now remains to be seen if he can learn to compete as quickly. If he can, it will take a lot to stop him!! We wait to see what happens tomorrow.
In the racing world the talk was about what to register. With only 4 sails to cover everything from 50-20 kts, its a tough decision. If you want to see what they choose its all on the PWA site here. Also there were quite a few Pozo first timers looking petrified at the thought of racing in a solid 50 kts. We dont blame them!
Well it all starts tomorrow and the forecast looks good for waves, so stay tuned to find out who ends up on top.
