UKWA announces early wave calendar

The UKWA has a couple of dates for you to put in your diary. Round 1 f the Wave tour in Brandon Bay from the 6th-10th of May, followed closely by Rhosneigr from the 15th to the 17th May.

Brandon Bay is always a great event. Great conditions, good fun atmosphere ad always seems to get wind. Jamie Knox has called these dates using his Crystal Tide/Weather ball and so far his events have never failed to give awesome down-the-line conditions! The ferries should be fairly cheap again this year with a competitors deal although I will confirm that in the New Year. The Swansea-Cork ferry is still not operating so it’s Fishguard or Holyhead for the trip across.

You can also fly with Ryan Air from London Stansted, Luton or Manchester and rent a car at Kerry which is less than an hour from Brandon Bay. At the moment flights to Kerry for May 2009 are £54 return with Ryan Air. Sports equipment goes at £25 per bag (as of Dec08).

The Rhosneigr event will be run alongside the JP/Neil Pryde Slalom event held over the same weekend so if the waves don’t show, pack your slalom kit.
There will be, as always, legendary entertainment including  a night of skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing at Llandudno Ski Slope courtesy of Nigel Treacy, a ‘team meal’ at Rhosneigr followed by some Bangor student night life for those who aren’t in the first heat the next morning!

Tiree will also once again be in the calendar some time in October but you will have to wait a bit longer to get the exact dates. The UKWA hope to confirm this by the New year. The 4th spot in the wave tour is still unknown. There are reports of a new location but nothing is set yet so wait and see.
