Registration starts tomorrow, Tuesday 10th January, for the London Boat Show PWA Indoor Windsurfing Championship. It is going to be one cut throat ride as many of the top stars are not even guaranteed entries into the main Event. Multiple Indoor World Champion Nik Baker has to qualify for the freestyle and Kauli Seadi has to qualify for the slalom. Both of these A listers were injured in last years show, preventing their overall ranking from being better.
This is one serious competition, the 90 000 dollar prize fund is quite a lure, and with only 4 going through each qualifying round from 12, tension will rife as many will have shelled out big bucks to get to London for what may only be 10 mins on the pool and no get out of jail card, and no entry to the finals. Last years UK jump Champion Jamie Hancock, has flown back from Cape Town especially for the trials. Many have travelled from further. UK hopefuls include Andy King (who has been practising flat water push loops), John Hibbard (who has been in Cape Town training especially for this event), Matt Wemms and Steve Thorpe (who has not been out much at all!), they will have to go . Ben Proffit concentrates this years efforts on the Slalom and Freestyle, which he gains automatic entry too after last years amazing performance
Kauli Seadi has also made his intentions clear for the jump as he has sent out these pictures to psyche out the competition, we can expect some big moves from the young brazilian.
