Pura Vida Boardriders is a Cardiff based shop that is organising a winter Wave series to give all the local rippers some friendly competition. Run on a roll over format, they choose the spot depending on the forecast, giving the best possible chance of scoring good conditions.
Round 3 took place at Trecco Bay on the 18th January and saw 50 people turn up to either take part of watch the action. Conditions started great but deteriorated as the day went on. That didn\’t stop everyone from not only enjoying the conditions, but also put some impressive displays together.
Rising to the top was Duncan Sheldon, who stood out as favourite from the start. For everyone on the beach and out sailing he just made it look easy, landing a perfect loop and with constant explosive rides backside and frontside with ariels in both directions time after time…..cruzing into 1st place undisputed!
In second was Rob Sheldon who narrowly beat Lewis Merroney after nailing an awesome backside ariel right in front of the judges.
The guys at Pura Vida want to thank everyone that made the effort to support the event on a less the ideal cold winters day. The atmosphere was great all day despite the iffy conditions. Also a massive thanks goes out to Sea Breeze Cafe at Newton for opening up and keeping everyone warm.
The next event is scheduled for February 21st/22nd. For more information check out www.puravidaboardriders.co.uk
