The Irish Slalom Series has been confirmed for 2009, and it has a good calendar of events. After last years success, this year the ISS team has manage to put together another great tour of events.
The kick off for the season will be in April, starting with the Irish Sea Challenge. Counting towards the ISS National Championship, the Irish Sea Challenge (organized by NeilPryde Group UK/ Surfdock.ie) will involve the IWA and the UKWA sailors to fight for the Irish Sea Challenge Title. Irish Sea Challenge Round 1 will be in Malahide, on the 4th and 5th of April, and Round 2 will be in Rhosneigr, in Wales (still counting towards the ISS). This second round will also be Round 1 of the British Slalom Series, which means the Irish sailors will have an awesome opportunity to have some international competition experience.
With the Irish Sea Challenge finished, round 3 of the ISS will be in June, hosted by Jamie Knox. Next will be Round 4, in July, up north in Downings, in Ireland’s biggest windsurfing event. And last but not least, the last 2 rounds of the ISS will be in Coolmaine, CO. Cork and in Silver Strand, Co. Galway.
But if after all this busy schedule you still want some more action, the Irish competitors have been invited to join the Channel Challenge. Two big events will take place in Brighton, UK and Wimmeraux, France. The ISS crew is hoping to attend both events with the Irish Team and are encouraging all sailors to accompany them.
