News Headlines – Fri 24th

Fuzzy haired French superstar, Julien Quentell and long time training partner of Antoine Albeau, looked like he was going to retire from competitive windsurfing a few weeks ago, after frustration with sponsors.  Today we hear that RRD have jumped to his aid together with long term sponsor NeilPryde, ensuring he will be back on the race course this year.

Today is the last day of the RS:X Olympic class event in Hyeres, France.  The UK\’s Bryony Shaw (and boardseeker columnist) won a race yesterday moving her up to 2nd place overall, with just the medal race to go.  Nick Dempsey currently lies in 3rd place, but its pretty tight and the medal race today could cause a real shake up!

2010 Equipment Photoshoots in Maui have ground to a halt at the moment with rain and lack of wind.  The only opportunities for photos have been on the flat water at Kihei.  The poor weather looks set to stay for nearly another week, so bad luck to those brands who have their photoshoots scheduled at the moment.  Bad luck also to UK riders Phil Horrocks and Ben Proffit who have spent most of their three week trip to Maui sat in the rain – you have to feel for them!

Starboard report that team rider Kevin Pritchard is eating all the pies and is on a weight gain program to try and match his rivals of Albeau and Dunkerbeck in this years slalom contests.
