News Headlines – Mon 20th

Everyone who was in Pozo last friday watching the wave finals is still in shock after seeing Philip Koster’s performance. But if you were not one of those lucky ones in Gran Canaria, you can have an idea of what happened with this video.

Shortly we will have some exclusive footage from the final from Alfie. Stay tuned!!!

Kevin Pritchard reports on his blog about what some of the past World Champions like Bjorn, Angulo, Kauli and himself were saying on the beach while watching Philip\’s performance.

After the results from Pozo, the Wave Ranking just got pretty interesting. With both Josh Angulo and Kauli Seadi finishing 9th in Pozo,  Angulo stays leading the Wave\’s ranking, and Kauli Seadi, in second, can not make any mistakes in Sylt if he wants to regain his title. The surprise comes in the third place, where Thomas Traversa is sitting comfortably. He is one of the most talented and stylish wave sailors on the planet and finally his position in the ranking does justice to his talent. PWA Men Wave Ranking.

But it was not an easiy time for Angulo there in Pozo. He actually struggled a bit during the event. Check out his report on the Maui Sails site.

And the action in Pozo didn\’t finished with the end of the PWA event. Straight after, the Spanish Cup started. The conditions were even more extreme than during the World Cup, and the standard equally high, with 3 of the top 5 of the PWA contest fighting for the Spanish crown. Victor Fernandez took the title, with Jonas Ceballos in second and Dario Ojeda in third. Philip Koster could not join the competition as he is now competing under Germany flag. Congratulations to British sailor Izzy Hamiton, as she strikes gold on the last day of the 2009 ISAF Youth Worlds in Buzios, Brasil.

Guy Cribb is already testing the new artificial wave in Bournemouth. The reef is still under construction but Cribby went out to test the potential of the wave. And it looks like we will have some good fun when it is finally finished!

Finally, for those still looking for the perfect holiday, Sportif has a new destination in its brochure, Kenya!!! There, in the Nyali Beach, you will find some awesome conditions for kitersurfing and you can even enjoy a Safari between you sessions on the water!
