The Fuerte Wave Classic got off to a great start, with some wind and waves on Day 1. According to our man on the beach, Alfie Hart, the conditions were not good enough to run the contest, but it didn\’t stop the sailors having fun at Rocky Point. As we write this, Alfie is putting the finishing touches on a short Day 1 film. So keep checking back through the day.
In the meantime check out Florian Jung\’s sailor perspective from his recent trip to Cape Town. Some great clips from his boom mount, including a unique angle of a landed goita.
If you want some more Cape Town action then check out Claudio Marzeddu on Continent 7. The Italian freestyler showing he can mix it up in the waves too.
Legendary 60 year old looper Clive Boden also put together a couple of great Cape Town videos. Firstly from a rare starboard tack day at Witsands, and then the complete Cape Town Road Trip, stretching from Platboom in the south to Elands Bay in the north.
Hot news this morning is that new skool sensation Philip Koester is now sponsored by Red Bull. Having won Pozo last year and picked up the German Sailor of the year award, its no surprise that the energy drink giants have snapped him up.
More sponsorship news, and its now even more official that Dany Bruch will be riding Patrik Diethelm boards. Having placed 3rd in Pozo 2 years ago on a Patrik shaped board, he will be hoping to repeat that success again this year. Read all about it on the OTC blog.
