Yesterday saw the start of the Pistol River Wave Bash in Southern Oregon. Tanya Saleh is submitting updates to boards.co.uk – and to get you in the mood, here\’s the event prologue movie from the Wave Bash site. We\’ll try to get you some action for Monday.
Out in the Atlantic, John Skye\’s back on Gran Canaria ready for PWA Pozo, Jonas Ceballos has signed with Tecnolimits Booms, while Phil Horrocks is busily booking his tickets. Less happily, on-form freestyler Taty Frans has suffered ligament damage and is now sporting a fetching pink plastercast. Question is, will he be fit for PWA Costa Teguise on Lanzarote in a fortnight?
Onto mainland Europe, and FRA-14 Pierre Mortefon won out on day 3 of the Dutch Texel Grand Prix Championship Slalom.
While the Swedish and Danish Kona Cups have seen record turn-outs and some pure tactical one-design longboard racing.
Back home, it\’s looking like a hot one for BSA Slalom 4 Aberdovey this weekend. And there\’s a good chance of enough breeze to race too. But even without there\’s plenty going on with the likes of Dave White, Mat Pearch, the Baker brothers, and even BWA Yellow Jersey holder Ben Proffitt on their way to mid-west Wales.
Before joining them on the racecourse tomorrow, Steve Thorp\’s been down to Kent where he hooked up with Canvey ripper Mark Bell and – all the way from Cornwall – Ian Black. Hardly all-time, but easily good enough by this year\’s standards to warrant the drive…
Down in Devon, new windsurfing retailers Boylo\’s have been hard at it setting up shop in Colyton, five minutes off the A35. Pop in for a brew (tea, beer, or even cider!) or check them out online at www.boylos.co.uk – free delivery over £10, enter the code \’boardseeker\’ at checkout for a 10% discount. Brilliant!
And finally, Tushingham rider Chris \’Muzza\’ Murray filmed a shock shark encounter off the Cornish coast. Don\’t panic though, it might have been huge but it\’s no man-eater…
