News Headlines – Wed 30th

Today sees the start of the PWA Costa Teguise World Cup Freestyle event – keep up with the action via the PWA site. And even better, in his rookie year Britain\’s own Max Rowe will be blogging (and answering questions) in the Boardseeker forums throughout the event. Max tells us it was 5m weather yesterday, and no surprises yet: Taty Frans is already looking like the one to watch…

Due to have launched yesterday, the Shadowbox / EpicSessions Jump-Off has moved on to the Columbia River Gorge. Details are still sketchy, but we hear Sam Neal is on his way to join the team high-jump event. For an idea of what\’s to come, check out today\’s movie – an interview with Jake Miller and Casey Hauser explaining the Gorge event format. Keep an eye on the EpicSessions blog and Facebook for news, and catch the live webcast if you can!

Talking of livecasting, the last EFPT event on Lefkada was covered live throughout – in case you missed it (and let\’s face it, a lot of us did) check out some head-to-head heats and interviews on their movie archive page

Meanwhile Ben Proffitt and Phil Horrocks are both out on Gran Canaria at a \’calm\’ Pozo getting ready for next week\’s PWA Wave event. \’Just\’ 4.7m weather with no wind so far – ironically, the forecast looks amazing back home in Rhosneigr for the first time in ages. Chin up, fellas…

Entries are filling fast for the UK\’s National Windsurfing Festival, 4-5 September. If you want a space, you\’d best apply now!

UMI Pictures have released a bonus episode of Novela das 8 – Cabo Verde. Filmstar Kauli Seadi says: “I got two weeks of sick sailing there before the 2009 PWA event with nobody around but some locals and Josh Angulo. The best decision I ever made, as it gave me the opportunity to really test my quad boards to use in the event and sail some amazing waves at spots like Ponta Preta and Ali Baba.” See for yourself here.

And finally, Surfing Venice as the inaugural Nissan / RRD stand-up paddleboarding event was a great success. We\’d be interested to hear what the gondoliers made of it though…
