News Headlines – Wed 14th

With less than seven weeks to go until the National Windsurfing Festival on Hayling Island, if you want an entry you\’d best be quick as we\’re told there are just a few event rashvests left. So sign up sharpish at www.nationalwindsurfingfestival.com and we\’ll see you at The Inn on the Beach, 4-5 Sept 2010, for the UK\’s biggest windsurfing event.

Today we thought we\’d bring you a \’chick flick\’ by way of Tatiana Howard enjoying the best of Fiji during the recent Butterfly Effect visit – her way of saying \’vinaka\’ (which we figure means thanks…)

No thanks to a badly cut foot, Jonas Ceballos managed a second place at the Spanish Cup in Pozo immediately after last week\’s PWA event. Team-mate Dario Ojeda climbed to third after the double, but the crown again went to Victor Fernandez.

And Victor graces the cover of CUTRE\’s PWA Pozo 2010 19-page pictorial e-magazine. On which theme, Nayra Alonso\’s pretty chuffed to see herself on the cover of the latest digital Windsurfer International mag from Beach Telegraph.

Wilhelm Schurmann, BRA-999, has been reporting from the Puerto Rico Slalom Series where he placed second behind Argentina\’s Gonzalo Costa Hoevel, ahead of Turk Enes Yilmazer, and – fresh from the Gorge Shadowbox Jump-Off – fourth placed Tyson Poor. Read all about it at NeilPryde and Starboard… Next up for the racers it\’s the Starboard / Severne US Nationals at San Francisco\’s Crissy Field, 20-24 July.

And finally, back on England\’s South Coast, Sam Darkin\’s been out freestyling in Ferring gearing up for a decent forecast on Thursday and then the ION Man at Eastbourne Extreme this weekend.
