The world\’s finest freestylers and slalom sailors are already arriving in Sotovento ready for the start of PWA Fuerteventura this Friday. Monday\’s film comes from Kuma Movie, featuring Tonky Frans, Bjorn Sargoza, Leo Ray and more in training for the trick event.
On the slalom scene, Aussie Sean O\’Brien\’s already out training on Fuerte with his 5.6m in 35+ knot winds, and over on Maui Dan Ellis\’s prep is going particularly well with a second place in the Maui Race Series \’Quiksilver Cup\’.
Olympic class racing now, and Izzy Hamilton landed RYA Volvo Team GBR’s only medal at this year’s 2010 ISAF Youth Worlds, picking up a second consecutive silver in the RS:X girls class in Istanbul, Turkey. Full results at www.isafyouthworlds.com
Back home, more reports are emerging from BSA Hunstanton as Nik Baker celebrates Mat Pearch sealing the UK Slalom title with two events yet to run. The UKWA site also has a report on the Quayside-sponsored event.
There are still a couple of stories dripping out of last week\’s windy days. Steve Thorp made the drive down to Southend to log 43 knots on the Ray. Gregg Dunnett\’s still smarting from the early starts at Windsurf Britain. And Sarah Bibby ended up in hospital after aggravating a foot injury back-looping at Worthing. Nothing broken though, thankfully…
