News Headlines, Mon 11th

There\’s really not been much action on the first weekend of the Tiree Wave Classic – yesterday was ladies\’ day in 10-15 knots at Balephuil, the first heat won by Hayle\’s Debbie Kennedy. More here. The only tweets emerging from Scotland seem to be from Bubble, who mentions some tow-in competition (surprise, surprise!) And it\’s just Proffitt on the blogs – anyone for golf?!?

The best of the action last weekend looks to have been down in Bigbury – check out Rod\’s marvellous Forwards4Cowards blog for a story of the day…

But for an action movie, we need to look further afield. All the way to Baja, in fact, from where Jem Hall apprentice Clive Boden filmed this beauty: Pure Joy down-the-line at Solo Sports, Baja California.

Finding British success also means a trip across the pond as ex UKWA leading light Xavier Ferlet won the Calcup last weekend in Berkeley near San Francisco. Nice one Xav!

To Africa now where Oceansource have finally announced that the new Habibi Beach Hotel has opened at El Tur\’s renowned Egyptian wave beach. No centre there yet, but the existing Oceansource shack is just 5 minutes away…

Down in Namibia at the Luderitz Speed Challenge 2010, within 90 minutes of the course opening on Friday Anders Bringdal set a new Swedish record with 43 knots. More on the Luderitz Speed site.

Great to see Andre Paskowski is still full of energy, and he\’s now announced that filming has started on his next movie project: Second Life, the follow-up to the acclaimed Four Dimensions featuring Gollito Estredo, Marcilio Browne, Victor Fernandez, Kauli Seadi, Ricardo Campello and Philip Köster. Rest assured we’ll have clips and trailers to bring you very soon and there\’s already stuff to be seen on Facebook, but meanwhile here’s their interview with World Freestyle Champ, Gollito…

And finally, on Friday we mentioned that PozoNews were calling a big swell for the Canaries. Well, it hit! Just check out their shots of North Shore Gran Canaria. That\’s big alright…
