News Headlines – Mon 18th

Conditions finally came good at the Tiree Wave Classic on Friday with head-high waves and enough wind for a float and ride contest at Balephuil. Ben Proffitt sailed solidly to take the pro title, Bubble impressed everyone to wrestle second place from Skyeboy, with James Cox in fourth. Scotty McDowell took the amateur crown, with Adam Sims in second place. Russ Jenkins was first master ahead of Craig Hamilton, and in the women\’s event it was a Cornish one-two in the shape of Debbie Kennedy and Jodie Ward. Full story here.

From waves to speed now, and way down south they\’ve had a bit of breeze at Weymouth Speed Week. Ant Baker is currently on top with 26.9 knots, closely followed by Patrick Van Hoof and Markus Wilms. Keep an eye on proceedings through the week here. The Tushingham Youth Trophy has already been awarded though, to Ryan Dunkling with 22.1 knots – Christian Body took second with Will Houghton third.

Off to warmer climes, and Max Rowe\’s thoroughly enjoying Jeri – 3.9m weather, apparently. He was ClubVentos\’ \’Ride of the Day\’ yesterday too (ironically, complete with Club Vass stickers centre-frame!)


John Skye has released part 2 of Skyeboy\’s Year 2010 – this instalment is on location in Morocco and Gran Canaria. Big wave moves including some really sweet cheese rolls…
