News Headlines – Thu 21st

Third placed on Tiree, John Skye\’s already out on Maui for some board tuning and training before PWA Cape Verde next month according to (and, obviously, alongside) fiance Nayra Alonso. Follow his progress and enjoy his latest movies here

Nayra\’s board sponsor Fanatic have released this little Maui clip from Addicted to Ride 6, entitled Fanatic Boardriding. Enjoy!

Staying on Maui, clean water initiative +H2O conducted a reef clean up at Ho’okipa Beach Park last weekend collecting a load of broken masts, battens and booms, a couple of surfboard fins and some fishing lures. More here.

Back in the UK, the \’Tushy boys\’ George Shillito and Chris \’Muzza\’ Murray stayed on for one last day as everyone left the Tiree Wave Classic last weekend. And judging by this movie they might have scored the best day of the week! While George was away in action (including that frightening oiled-up photoshoot… More on his amigo Muzza\’s blog) the family centre down at Polkerris has been awarded Cornwall Tourism\’s Silver award for Leisure Experience of the Year! More here.

Over in Ireland it\’s great to see Mikey Clancy is fully back on it following his injury last year. There\’s proof he doesn\’t seem to be holding back at recent sessions at Low Rock and Dollymount on his blog – and here\’s a nice little video monologue from the man…

New Project 1 from Mikey Clancy on Vimeo.

Muzza, George and Mikey\’s board sponsor Starboard are now shipping Futura, iSonic and iSonic Speed boards, just in time for the equinoctial gales. More info, rigging guides, product movies and full specs here.

On the UK\’s South Coast, young slalom racer Sam Latham has moved to Bournemouth to study at uni. Happily he\’s now just 10 minutes from the water so look out for him taking some scalps at the ever-popular Poole Slalom series. More here.

And finally, way over in Brazil we hear Max Rowe is planning some tow-in windsurfing in the next still spell. Nothing strange about that these days – except he\’s counting on a horse rather than jet-ski to provide the tow. Brave (or foolish?) man… Look out for more on his blog.
