The PWA crew were on manoeuvres in Cape Verde yesterday, chasing the swell up to the urchin-ridden launch at Curral Jaoul up north on the west coast. After Josh Angulo, Boujmaa Guilloul and a handful of others demonstrated what was possible out there, the wind promptly died as the flag went up for the first heat (Traversa vs Sorlut) and competition was abandoned. The British Wavesailing Association had a frustrating time in Pembrokeshire for the BWA Welsh Wavesailing Champs too. There was just enough puff in the morning to run an expression session – the amateurs taken by an on-form Aleksy Gayda – but as conditions then failed the event is rolling over. More here.

Some competitions have managed to run though: Ante Berlengi of Loft Sails won the \’Hell of Wind\’ slalom event in Croatia. Bjorn Dunkerbeck is in the lead after the first day of speedsailing at the French Speed Classic according to their Facebook page. Gabriel Browne has won the Brazilian Slalom Championships in Icaraizinho from Wilhelm Schurmann and Mathias Pinheiro according to

Staying in Icaraizinho, Max Rowe has published a freestyle gallery from his filming exploits there recently. While back in Jeri, Edvan Souza has won the Jericoacoara Association of Windsurfers freestyle event from Ian Mouro, local boy \’Sassa\’, and Chico Bento. Dutch beauty Arrianne won the women\’s comp from Britain\’s Maeli Cherel and Emmy Roosling. More here.

Filmmaker Brendan Pyatt from umi Pictures got behind the scenes on an Ezzy photoshoot with lens legend Darrell Wong – and it looks like he\’ll be campaigning for better treatment of downtrodden cameramen in future. All looks a little bourgeois to us though…
