News Headlines – Thu 18th

Thomas Traversa was yesterday\’s man of the moment at PWA Cabo Verde, mainly as his victory against fellow Frenchman Yann Sorlut in heat 1 was about the only \’moment\’ of the contest so far. And it looks suspiciously like Groundhog Day today, as they\’re back at Curral Jaoul and heat 2, Angulo vs Voget, has already been started and abandoned due to lack of conditions. See what you can see despite no power or internet at the event site at caboverdeworldcup.com or pwaworldtour.com

The only footage we\’ve seen from CV so far is this interview with Ross Williams tipping his favourites for glory at this year\’s event, board styles and more…

…and another talking head in the shape of Diony Guadagnino, the Venezuelan Cabo Verde virgin!

…or a sweet SUPsailing session with Ronald Richoux from Planchemag.

Back home in an increasingly wintry UK, there\’s some race training on offer between Cardiff and Swansea with Llandegfedd Windsurfing Club at Corus Sailing Club. More here.

Simon Bornhoft\’s WindWise Boards & Banquet on Saturday 13th November rocked Hayling Island Sailing Club with over 130 windsurfers partying into the early hours. More here and here – and on windwise.net

British freestyler Will Rogers, “water addict, weekend warrior”, has set up a new blog at windsurfingwilly.wordpress.com. And Danish World Cup wavesailor Kenneth Danielsen has a whole new website at kennethdanielsen.com

And finally, from County Kerry, Ireland, Rob Jones has sent us a note that he just won the 2010 Irish Wavesailing Title. Like a tearful Oscar winner, he has a few people to credit: “Thanks to Bus Eireann for arranging me to take time off in the year to train and compete. Thanks also to Riks Windsurfing for suppling my equipment, Jamie Knox Watersports for styling me out in jackets to keep me warm, Markus at Seven-Surfboards for my surfboards, Quatro in Hawaii for my windsurf boards, and Spillanes Bar in Fahamore for keeping me well fed (and, err, watered!) I\’m off to Chile for December and January with Rose for some wind, waves and sunshine. Hope you\’re styling and loving this winter so far… Best year I can ever remember by a mile!”
