Yesterday saw the release of the final 2010 ISWC World Speed rankings. Anders Bringdal (SWE, Mistral, Challenger) and Zara Davis (GBR, Mistral, Simmer) take the Speed Windsurfing crowns for 2010 after five events this season, culminating in the Speed Classic in France. See the official rankings here, and kudos to Channel Islander Martyn Ogier for his #2 world ranking ahead of the mighty Bjorn Dunkerbeck too!
Oh, and here\’s the highlights reel from that final event – frightening looking speedsailing at Port St Louis for the Speed Classic 2010.
And here\’s a couple of the latest from umi Pictures\’ \’Rough Cuts\’ series. First, Cisco Goya at Ponta Preta last year…
…next, some super-smooth riding from Nik Baker at PWA Brazil 2007 in Ibiraquera (remember that one?)
It\’s a shame to hear that the Wave Classic Invitationals – also filmed by umi – are no more, having seemingly failed to secure any industry support… Continent Seven asks organiser Steve Pallier why he\’s stepping away from the project, while Windsurf Journal carries an illuminating interview on the matter with Steve Landing.
It\’s December, which means that like it or not the Christmas craziness has started. The first in on the act are Boardwise with a 10% pre-Christmas deal on 2011 kit and 20% off sale on 2010, Ant Baker with his Xmas photo competition, and The OTC are offering 10% off kit hire and courses in Weymouth and Tenerife with their festive gift voucher.
And finally, our technique guru Jem Hall is out in Jeri conducting his winter coaching courses … and on a personal level, trying to conquer the push-loop with his new Ezzy Wave Panther 3s. Not there yet though! Check out the sequence. And talking of Wave Panther 3s, if you fancy a test-drive they\’re now available to demo at 2XS in West Wittering for free. More here.
