News Headlines – Thu 27th

Plenty more movies are streaming onto the web right now, so let\’s get started with some of the latest action. First up, Ric Cleworth – the latest rising star out of Club Vass, check out riccleworth.blogspot.com – has posted this Egyptian lovely, filmed over three months spent instructing at Club Dahab before heading out to South Africa to stay with Proffitt and Bubble…

Good call, as Bubble\’s Cape Town 2011 visit hasn\’t been too shabby at all so far – check it out. And while you\’re in the mood, the latest blog postings on South Africa come from Adam Sims who\’s fresh back into the UK and Dutch stalwart Martin Ten Hoeve who\’s still firmly out there…

Way out there in Western Australia, Frans den Hartogh has released this great clip of the boys tearing up some solid swells around Perth. Ripper!

Staying in Oz, although we\’re never really sure quite what\’s going on here, Japanese super-blogger and filmmaker extraordinaire Kuma Movie seems to be on an extended trip Down Under this winter. See what you make of the latest (google-translated) teddy bear trippiness at wind.ap.teacup.com/kumamovie

Which leads us nicely into Japan, where umi Pictures are on location right now. And Omaezaki looks to be treating them well – the crowds seem to go wild for Graham Ezzy\’s push-loop in this rough cut…

Following the thread, over on Graham\’s Surfmatic blog the young Hawaiian wavesailor\’s latest pick is this freestyle clip of an air matador by Steven Van Broeckhoven. Kudos indeed from Graham: “It embodies everything great about the most modern freestyle; the rotation is fast and in the air. But this move also adds elements from conventional freestyle: body contortion and back-to-sail sailing (in the rotation!). And it’s all executed with power. Us wave guys often foolishly forget that freestyle can be radical too.” Hear hear…

And finally, damned if we can think of a way to link that to Israel, but we\’re heading there now anyway as a month holding period has just started for the 9th Annual Storm Rider at Bat Galim beach, Haifa – basically, the event\’s on when the next storm hits. Check out the 2011 trailer: more on the Storm Rider Facebook page.
