News Headlines – Mon 31st

The big news from the weekend was the conclusion of the first Olympic Class event of the season – the Miami OCR. Top work Nick Dempsey and Bryony Shaw. More at boards.co.uk, windsurfingtour.com and rsxclass.com

The next event on the horizon is the Fuerte Wave Classic due to start a week tomorrow (8-18 February). And the latest warm-up action from Fuerteventura\’s North Shore is Will Ward doing battle with a monster or two…

Talking of warm-ups, check this out: some Northern French action as four Normans – Yann Sorlut, Pierre Fremion, Thomas Daumail and Damien Simon – sail Le Rozel in Normandy. More at pierrefremion.fr

While we\’re in Cape Town, stories continue to emerge of the \’best season ever\’ out there. Not least from Ben Proffitt on thewetdream.co.uk who\’s even felt comfortable taking a break from the cranking west coast to visit the east coast with his kiter girlfriend. Meanwhile Phil Horrocks\’ South African time is up now – but he\’s asking for your help to choose the soundtrack for what promises to be a killer Cape Town movie. Check out the Winter Video – You choose the Music! thread in the Boardseeker forums.

One last sponsorship snippet – ripping Cornish brothers Andy and Steve King (who\’s respectfully [!] suggested “Erasure, Wham, Ricky Martin or maybe a even a little bit of Queen” in that very thread) have joined the ever-expanding Turfdog Team to help further develop the brand\’s landboards. And finally, it might not be windsurfing but it is mighty impressive. Check out big wave surfer Mark Visser\’s Jaws night-session – towing onto that in the dark does somewhat put our night-windsurf into perspective… More at markvisser.net
