Still no competition for the Fuerte Wave Classic yesterday, but they did score the biggest conditions they\’ve had yet – double-mast high at Puertito, with Thomas Traversa, Yannick Anton, Mikey Clancy and Stephane Etienne putting on quite a show of riding. And we\’re pleased to see the most prolific filmmaker of the moment Thijs Vancayseele was on hand to catch the action in his contemporary western homage too: The Good, The Bad, No Ugly…
John Palmer, fresh back home from Club Dahab to place second at the EsseXpression freestyle jam the weekend before last, has dropped us a line: “I\’m super-excited to be on the Severne Sails Team, I finally got my new S-1s a few weeks ago and unwrapped them in time for the wind! I went to Rhossy to test them out and loved the sails, they are crazily light, feel awesome on the water and look really good especially in the normal UK conditions! Severne are pushing me to do more events so i\’ll be going to all the UK ones this year, hopefully this will help me to push my sailing to the next level.” As we said, a name you\’ll be hearing more of – check him out at k718.co.uk
John, Max Rowe and Adam Sims (who\’s just let us know about a new RRD International Facebook page, here) zipped straight from Essex down to Camber following EsseXpress – check out the photos on davewhite.me
The winner of last weekend\’s SWA K3d Rhosneigr Wave, Steve \’SJ\’ Jarvis, got in touch to let us know he\’s now posted a report on the weekend at sjwindsurf.blogspot.com – including a great backside aerial sequence. Yet another rising star!
Also in the inbox this morning was a note from Jem Hall, who has a few last places left on his clinic to Marvelous Marsa Alam in Egypt – March 16th and 23rd: “Plane earlier, sail faster, tack like a demon and gybe like a legend whilst having a fab holiday in warm water and sweet sunshine. Let Jem\’s world class coaching and huge enthusiasm be the guide to help you step up to the next level.” More at jemhall.com – book with Sportif at firstname.lastname@example.org
Meanwhile, back online it\’s good to see AHD have redesigned and relaunched their website – now full of left-field 2011 goodies like the foiling AFS-1, their niche Seal, and new lightwind Tactik. Check it out at ahd-boards.com
Talking of new websites, the previously Gorge-heavy River Rippers has relaunched and broadened to take in France\’s Rhone and the Czech Republic\’s Vltava. We\’re not short of rideable rivers in the UK either, so hopefully a few Brit riders will contribute too. Find your mark at river-rippers.net
And finally, here\’s a couple of pictures guaranteed to warm the cockles of even the most world-weary soul – as featured on continentseven.com and windsurfjournal.com, Taty Frans windsurfing with his 6-month-old daughter Gianna: “She just love the water so that’s a great thing to me and the smile is on her face just like me…” Cute!
