News Headlines – Tue 5th

It looks to be another breezy day here in the UK, so let\’s celebrate with some British action footage from last Friday down at Gwithian, where K4Fins riders Andy King and our very own James Cox scored a few waves on April Fools Day. More at k4fins.com. Also all the way out west miles from his east coast home, Mike Archer provides today\’s lead picture (with thanks to snapper Scott Perry) and a report on mikewindsurf.blogspot.com

From a nation\’s wavesailing honeypot to the world\’s now, and Ho\’okipa for movie number two – check out Brawzinho, Kai Lenny, Ricardo and co at Ho\’okipa last week, by Harry Wiewel. And keep up with the latest goings on as the 2012 kit hits the water at mauisurfreport.blogspot.com and mauiwindsurfing.net

Back to Blighty and here\’s a worthy idea from George Shillito down at the Polkerris Beach Company in Cornwall. He\’s announced a Kids vs Coach challenge in aid of Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research (W4CR) on the 30th April – “Basically for every kid who windsurfs for one hour, one hour will be added to a mass total. I will then attempt to beat this grand total in a non-stop, marathon windsurf!!!” Damn! Donate to a great cause at georgek630.windsurfing.pro – more on W4CR at windsurfing4cancerresearch.org

George is fresh back from South Africa, where he\’s spent the winter training alongside many of the world\’s top wavesailors. Which gives us a good excuse to mention another brand photoshoot. This time F2 have bucked the Maui trend in favour of Cape Town – and you can find some great shots of leading rider D-38 Kenneth Danielsen in action for his board sponsors at kennethdanielsen.com

Out on the Canaries, RRD\’s Tine Slabe has beaten Vincent Langer and Andrea Cucchi to the prize in the El Medano leg of the Canaries Slalom Tour. No mean feat when you consider the local Point-7 crew are out there training and testing every moment there\’s breeze. Kudos to SLO-6 then, more at insidertrrding.blogspot.com

From slalom to course racing now, and we hear Nick Dempsey had a good time on a windy day 1 of the Olympic class Princess Sofia Regatta in Spain – strong wind specialist Dorian van Rijsselberge took two bullets but Nick\’s lying in second place after two races, with the wind forecast to tail off today. Meanwhile Allesandra Sensini is in control of the women\’s fleet with 18th placed Izzy Hamilton currently two spots higher than Bryony Shaw. Keep up with the latest at trofeoprincesasofia-mapfre.org and rsxclass.com

And finally, big thanks to The Peconic Puffin for this one – could veteran rocker Neil Young have been a windsurfer? Look for evidence at peconicpuffin.com … and while we\’re at it, after Prince Charlie\’s appearance last week, maybe it\’s time for a top 10 of \’celebrity windsurfers\’? Submit any you know of to news@boardseeker.com
