Welcoming us back to another week we have some wavesailing competition results beginning to come in. British eyes have been on North Wales for the first round of the BWA Four Nations series up at Rhosneigr, where (as ever) is locals rule – this year Phil Horrocks has taken the spoils, with Ben Proffitt second, Bubble third and Adam Lewis fighting back up through the double elimination to fourth. Check out the first pictures and a brief report from Jay Haysey on boards.co.uk – and meanwhile here\’s Dave White\’s rough edit from yesterday at the beach…
Meanwhile, out in the US of A a full double was completed at Waddell Creek for the Santa Cruz Classic 2011 – the first stop on the phoenix American Windsurfing Tour. (It made the front page in the local press too, according to humancatapult.blogspot.com…) Nathan Mershon won a hotly contested expert fleet, Ingrid Larouche took the women\’s and Bernd Roediger the youths. More at americanwindsurfingtour.com, full reports no doubt emerging soon, but for all the action you need to see check out these two awesome clips of days 2 & 3, courtesy of Kevin Pritchard at Maui Nerd Productions.
Now, on Friday we might have been seen to have drawn a line under PWA / EFPT Podersdorf, but we ever-so-slightly lied! Sorry about that, but it was before we spotted these next two clips: the official footage from the PWA freestyle finals on day six, and Jamie Drummond\’s warm-up, qualifying and finals action from the EFPT Tow-In. Enjoy! There are also further celebrations of Steven Van Broeckhoven\’s win at efpt.net and f2-surf.com
Some less triumphant news is emanating from Olympic circles as ISAF have decided on the sailing events for the 2016 Games in Rio. And pretty much as anticipated there will be an RS:X vs Kitesurfing evaluation to decide which discipline will take place in Brazil. Inexplicably the RYA (who are windsurfing\’s governing body in the UK, but not kitesurfing last time we checked) “applauds the decision” at rya.org.uk … although funnily enough the RS:X Class seem a little less appreciative at rsxclass.com
And finally, let\’s go back to Rhosneigr for today\’s parting movie. Brace yourselves, as Dave White takes a look round the busiest BWA digs in the village. Keep up with more from Rhosneigr plus the impending Ireland leg right here on Boardseeker, on sister site boards.co.uk, the action movie emporium that is mpora.com and the BWA site at britishwavesailingassociation.com throughout this week…
