The Easter Bank Holiday weekend saw a total of 123 competitors to enter either course racing, slalom and freewave. Some even entered all for this Festival event. Typically the easter winds came from the North and East as they seem to do every year?
There was enough wind for 5 Formula races, 3 Slalom, and 10 raceboard, in the gusty cross offshore winds. Monday also just saw enough wind for a Freewave expression session, run by Trevor Funnel.
Alan Jackson was on form to take the overall honours in the Formula racing, with Xavier Ferlet in second place (and first master). Dan Simpson, sailed exceptionally well to come in 1st Youth and 5th overall, one place behind Keith Atkinson. Dan Ellis (lacking his formula board) sat out the even, but then went onto blitz the slalom with two first places and one second.
The massively succesful Junior fleet was 30 strong, all racing on the new one design kit. Ali Masters was again in dominant form powering round the light breezes on his 7.8 and putting together a string of first places. Redmond Scales came in at second. In the Raceboard fleet, Robert Kents consistent performance put him in first overall.
Event organiser Ceri Williams was delighted at the success of the event and made the additional comment “When we have all RSX youths combined with the Formula youths, we will have the best youth fleet fwe have had for many years”
