News Headlines – Fri 5th

We open with more great British news out of Baja California where Tanya Saleh won the third round of women\’s wavesailing at the AWT Cactus Cup yesterday – which surely means she has the event win sewn up now? We have another new winner in the men\’s though, as Graham Ezzy goitered himself to day four glory at Punta San Carlos. Read Tanya\’s latest report at boards.co.uk, and see full results so far at americanwindsurfingtour.com

Our national pride is glowing even hotter after reports from the first day of RS:X racing at the Olympic test event down at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. And that\’s not just as this is the venue for next year\’s Games proper, because Nick Dempsey has stormed to an early lead ahead of tough competition while Bryony Shaw put in a solid performance to make fifth in the women\’s. Go GB! See the first day report at boards.co.uk and follow today\’s action live at wpnsa.org.uk and sailing.org

Staying on the one-design racecourse, after six races at the Kona World Championships in Denmark, Nivaa to be precise, Danishman Tim Aagesen has taken a commanding lead over Sweden\’s Adam and Bjorn Holm. More at konaone.com – and check out the official day two movie right here…

Out on Tenerife, after the fun the PWA crew had at Siam Park wave pool – and of course following Dany Bruch\’s awesome exploits \’towing-out\’ there last year, check the video below if you didn\’t see it at the time – the waterpark has announced the Siam Park Extreme Jump tomorrow, 6 August, when ten of the world\’s best will be competing in what promises to be an awesome jump contest. See the translated blog from siampark.net – and hopefully we\’ll bring you more on Monday…

So, we\’re back in the Canaries again after just a day spent looking elsewhere then, in which case we might as well show you some more of the latest locally-grown movies. First up, here\’s Cadiz local Emilio Galindo freestyling at home and wavesailing away on Lanzarote with his new Simmer Sails – more on them at simmerstyle.com

Next, hot out of Heidy Clawson\’s hard drive, is Team Pryde – Robby Swift, Ricardo Campello, Kauli Seadi and Philip Koster – in action at PWA Pozo on Gran Canaria. Won of course by the wunderkind Koster. More at neilpryde.com

Then island-hopping back to Tenerife, check out the stars of the last PWA Wave event: Team Severne\’s Dany Bruch, Jaeger Stone, Daida and Iballa Moreno, Nayra Alonso and Karin Jaggi took six of the top eight places on offer at Cabezo – here\’s how. More at severnesails.com

And finally, apologies if today\’s headlines are a little later than normal (whatever \’normal\’ is these days!)
