News Headlines – Thu 25th

Today\’s lead movie might be low-fi footage but it\’s certainly well produced, hi-fi action from young Aleksy Gayda – current leader of the BWA amateurs and surely odds-on to win the title this season. Anyway, unless you\’ve ever sailed with Lecky you\’ve probably never seen him sail as he\’s pretty low-profile … so do check this out: and remember where you saw him first folks, because you\’ll be noticing K-412 a lot more in years to come… More at aleksyk412.blogspot.com

Talking of rising stars, the plot thickens from BSA Worthing as – contrary to what the results say at ukwindsurfing.com – we were right in the first place in that Sam Latham did finish third overall and second youth behind Connor Bainbridge, with James Dinsmore first overall. According to the good doctor who we asked to clear up our confusion, it seems the UKWA may have overlooked a fifth and final race – and in fact, thanks to Connor\’s latest update at connorbainbridge.blogspot.com, here\’s a pic of the two rising stars receiving their prizes from Nik Baker…

From those in the ascendancy to a well established, glittering superstar now, check out the latest movie from Daida Moreno – E-64, the best female windsurfer in the world… Really can\’t argue with that! More at morenotwins.com

If that\’s got you in the mood for a movie, surely the second best (for now, anyway!) female windsurfer in the world Sarah-Quita Offringa features heavily in a 24-minute highlights show from PWA Aruba currently showing on RedBull TV at servustv.com

The other star of that show, fellow 2011 World Slalom Champion Bjorn Dunkerbeck is giving away a day of training with E-11 to the highest bidder on 25 September in aid of the Manuel Neuer Kids Foundation. A good cause, and surely not a bad day\’s work-out on Gran Canaria if you can afford it. See a translation of the offer at unitedcharity.de

And finally, here\’s a heartwarming headline – down in Dorset Annie Brown turned 100 years old yesterday. What\’s that got to do with windsurfing? Well, Ms Brown is \’Granny Annie\’ to Olympic bronze medallist Bryony Shaw: read the full Dorset Echo story at dorsetecho.co.uk
