News Headlines – Thu 8th

What a week it\’s been in the UK, and as the wind backs off a little let\’s celebrate the return of real weather with another movie from Super-Tuesday 6 September. This time it\’s Irish warrior Timo Mullen, renowned for his epic drives for a decent session, just a couple of miles from home at a pumping Branksome Chine. Keep up with Timo\’s latest @TimoIR69 on twitter.com

And lest we forget, just a couple of days before it was the biggest and bestest National Windsurfing Festival yet at Hayling Island. NeilPryde, JP Australia, 2XS and Adam Sims certainly haven\’t forgotten, having posted reports on neilpryde.com, jp-australia.com, 2xs.co.uk and k669.blogspot.com – and in case you missed the event entirely, here\’s a tour around the beach with Muzza and Skyeboy. See you there next year?

Launched at NWF 2011 last weekend, the RYA\’s new initiative Project Windsurf-UK looks like a good\’un. Aimed at promoting windsurfing clubs and groups in the UK, and linking individual windsurfers with these groups, the burgeoning social network lives at projectwindsurfuk.org.uk

Out at the Raceboard Worlds in Spain, we still have a Brit on top of the women\’s fleet as Harriet Ellis has extended her lead to two points over Maria Dominguez. Curro Manchon is now a point ahead of Patrik Pollak in the men\’s 9.5 with GBR-365 Mark Kay still second master and fifth overall. More at internationalwindsurfing.com

Meanwhile over in Germany it sounds like we\’ve got another British winner as Zara Davis won all three women\’s \’races\’ at the German Speed Championships to take an overall lead on the Euro Tour 2011. Anders Bjorkquist took the men\’s ahead of Daniel Borgelind. More at speedworldcup.com

Unfortunate news from one Brit involved in the next big event on the radar though. Because up in Denmark Ben Proffitt and Simmer team-mate Klaas Voget have both managed to knacker their feet in training for the Klitmoller PWA Cold Hawaii event next week. Klaas\’s is broken but Ben\’s could get better according to thewetdream.co.uk – keep up with proceedings as things hot up for what could seriously be the wave event of the year at worldcup.coldhawaii.eu

And finally, German web mag The Daily Dose are seeking silver surfers who\’ve been windsurfing for over 40 years for a documentary project. If you remember way back when men were real men, get in touch via dailydose.de
