Where else to start but in northern Germany where the world\’s best are gathering on the island of Sylt for the Reno World Cup.
Today is only registration day for the sailors but don\’t let that stop you heading on over to www.pwaworldtour.com to check out their live ticker. If you followed that sound advice you would learn that there\’s already a decent breeze blowing and I\’m sure you would be equally thrilled to find out that the sailors will be parading on the beach in the opening ceremony.
Now, you would think the life of a pro windsurfer is pretty glamorous but it seems that no sooner has spin king Ricardo Campello arrived at Sylt than he wants to head off home. He wrote on his Twitter page, twitter.com/campelloricardo, “In cold Sylt germany, last event of the year! crazy to go homeee!!” Fortunately not all the boys are pining for warmer climes. Our very own Andy \’Bubble\’ Chambers wrote “In Sylt! Rigged and ready to go! Already a lot of people around!” Check out his thoughts at twitter.com//bubblek540.
We told you the other day that Nick Dempsey had made it into the GB squad for London 2012. Well, now he has warned organisers not to risk his Olympic ambitions for the sake of paying spectators. He told national press agency Sportsbeat, “the course has got to be fair. It\’s not about the spectators, the television audiences and the atmosphere – it\’s about providing the best sailing course for those athletes who have worked their entire lives for that moment.” Check out the full story at www.morethanthegames.co.uk.
For our video offering, here are some of the boys down at Wittering in a right old blow. It\’s a week or two old, and there\’s a chance you might have seen it……but it\’s bloomin hilarious so why not watch again.

If you are young enough to consider yourself a \’young gun\’ and that vid has got you chomping at the bit, then you could do a lot worse than to head down to West Wittering at the end of October. 2XS are running a \’Rippers Freestyle/Wave Camp\’ on the 29th and 30th with special guest coaches Jamie Drummond, Adam Simms and Sam Ross. You can find more info at www.2xs.co.uk.
Finally, we\’ve just got time for a quick event round-up. Starboard are inevitably keen to laud the achievements of their new World Champ Philip Koster, but they have still got time for a nice mention for their Polish racers who cleaned up in the slalom and formula categories at the recent Polish Championships. Check out www.star-board.com for more.
OK, that\’s me done. Remember to keep tabs on www.pwaworldtour.com for Sylt updates. We\’ll be back on Monday with a round up of the weekend\’s action.
