From the world\’s very finest to the UK\’s grassroots now, and the RYA have released the first ad for their latest initiative – Project Windsurf UK “invites windsurfers, old and new, to sign up and share ideas through blogs and forum posts, upload windsurfing photos and videos, and to join a local group as an online member” … and in less than a month since its launch at NWF, it already seems to be gaining momentum. Of course, as the venue for next year\’s Olympic Regatta, Weymouth is the top-end RYA focus right now – and last weekend the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy hosted the British Open Raceboard Championships as part of the RYA Youth and Masters / UKWA Cup 6. Rob Kent beat Chris Gibson and Mark Kay to the National Open Men\’s title with Annette Kent ruling the Raceboard Women\’s … all on Starboard Phantom 380s according to Meanwhile in the RS:X fleet, super-light winds saw Nick Dempsey back in a uncharacteristic third place behind Elliot Carney in second and Ali Masters first. Back to results now, and are reporting that Mikey Clancy beat Rob Jones, Oisin Van Gelderan and Mark Killeen over two days of wavesailing competition at round three of the IWA Irish Wavesailing Championships at at Elly Beach, Belmullet, the weekend before last. Katie MacEnana secured the women\’s title, Fabian McGovern won the silver fleet and Ryan O’Leary the juniors. The final round is planned fro Brandon Bay, 12-13 November according to

And finally, staying in Ireland here\’s a heartwarming tale of a windsurfing crimefighter. Following the theft of Dublin speedsailor Steve Flannagan\’s entire quiver last month, IRL-250 Alastair Nichol took it upon himself to track down the culprit via eBay and hand him over to the law.
