News Headlines – Wed 19th

It\’s Weymouth again for today\’s lead story, as yesterday provided Weymouth Speed Week with enough wind for more 30+ knot runs down the speedstrip. Unfortunately not enough to topple the kiter from top spot as overall results remain unchanged from Monday with David Garrel leading the windsurfers from 2nd place overall, ahead of Kevin Greenslade in 5th and Patrick Van Hoof 6th. See all of yesterday\’s speeds for yourself at speedsailing.com and check out Dave White\’s Tuesday image gallery at boards.co.uk

Staying put in Dorset, and last weekend saw the RYA Olympic Classes National Ranking Series come to a conclusion at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Olympic campaigner Nick Dempsey emerged victorious in the 9.5m RS:X fleet ahead of Ali Masters and Elliot Carney, while 16 year-old U17 World Techno Champion Kieran Martin held off Bryony Shaw and Izzy Hamilton in the 8.5m fleet. Today\’s first movie also harks back to last weekend, as Chris \’Muzza\’ Murray presents Tiree With The Lads as he\’s reunited with the erstwhile Team Airborne crew of George Shillito and Adam Lewis for the trip up the the 25th Tiree Wave Classic – check out the action right here, hit k202windsurfing.blogspot.com for more Muzza, plus you can now find latest updates on the TWC from 4th-placed master Dave White at davewhite.me and 3rd-placed pro Phil Horrocks on ripandslash.com

The one-and-only Peter Hart was amongst the legends spotted on Tiree this year, having arrived fresh from his September Donegal Windsurfing Masterclass clinic. It looks like his clients had quite a craic there too, judging by this movie and super-satisfied customer Phill\’s report on windsurf.me.uk – book in next time with Harty at peter-hart.com

Another living legend, French soulsurfer Fabrice Beaux has published the latest episode of his ongoing story for the RRD blog. Check out his Cross Training on SUP and kite to complement some pure joy windsurfing on Oahu at insidertrrding.blogspot.com

If you think you\’ve got what it takes to make a name for yourself too, Fanatic\’s latest competition could get you on the first step of the ladder – just upload your best action pic on a Fanatic board and the picture judged to be best by Klaas Voget, Victor Fernandez and Gollito Estredo will grace the Fanatic homepage for a whole month! And finally, let\’s return to yesterday\’s story of “probably the heaviest windsurfing wipe-out we\’ve ever seen” and our search for the \’mystery madman\’ of Teahupoo. Hands up, we failed to realise that this was in fact footage from a good few years ago yet only recently uploaded to YouTube – and it seems several readers were much more on the ball than us (in our defence, it was windy outside our window!) Anyway, thanks to Nicolas Trifigny, Marisol Aube, Niels Outzen and even continentseven.com for observing that this could only be confirmed lunatic Robert Teriitehau during his famous 2006 session with Jason Polakow. So if you\’ll excuse the repetition, here\’s that ultimate rinsing once more…
