We start today with news from British Wave Champ Ben Proffitt out in Western Australia. Just as he was wrapping up a week in Esperance, scoring great wind and waves everyday and pushing his starboard tack sailing, Ben crashed an aerial really hard and injured his ankle. From the photos it looks pretty swollen to say the least, so let\’s hope he\’s back on the water soon! For the full story as well as some great photos and a video of the crash, head over to Ben\’s recently reworked site here.
Next up is some freestyle action from Egypt now. For a change it\’s not the tourists ripping, but the locals instead. Check out Salama and Mohamed tearing it up in Dahab and the Blue Lagoon.
That video comes courtesy of Swiss Freestyler Laure Treboux – who has just launched a new Facebook fan page. Laure seems to be updating very regularly so keep up to date with her news and give the page a like.
Hot Sails Maui need your help! The loft\’s new Freestyle Pro sail is due to go into production soon, they just can\’t decide on a colour scheme. Head over to their website and contribute your thoughts as they want to hear what you think. Freestyle hotshot and sail tester Paul Zeper is the man behind the colour schemes and has been blogging away about his stay on Maui. Check it all out here.
Sticking with Maui sail lofts, and it would appear that Maui Sails have signed up super-stylish wave sailor Camille Juban. The report (in French) is just online here at the moment but hopefully confirmation from Maui Sails soon. The Guadeloupian sailor completes his Maui-based gear setup – check out his profile on the Quatro website.
Naish have uploaded some photos of two Austrian riders taking SUP riding, quite literally, to great new heights. After some monster snowstorms in Austria the SUPs were put to the test and look like they worked really well – check out the photos here, great fun!
And now for something equally different… Top pro sailors Chris \’Muzza\’ Murray and Bryan Metcalf-Perez obviously had a lot of fun making the next video. Invading the kite park in Hood River, the pair attached some special fins and set about tearing up the sliders and kickers. And would you believe it; suddenly kiting didn\’t seem as cool to all the girls anymore…
World Wave Champion Phillip Koester is in line to win the Laureus Action Sportsperson of the Year. He is in the category with big names from the action sports world like Kelly Slater, Travis Rice and Shaun White. Fingers crossed the daredevil jumper wins it for windsurfing, he\’s definitely got our vote! More info here.
See you back here later for our PM update.
