Good morning everyone and welcome to a new week! Kick starting your Monday we have a video of Womens World Wave Champion Daida Moreno with a review of her 2011. In super slow motion we can see why Daida is champion and why she could give a lot of the top guys a run for their money too!
Some good news for the sport now as Neil Pryde have announced a prize pot of $45,000 for the top competitors at the RS:X World Championships next month. This backing from one of the top brands shows that windsurfing competition has a bright future. The RS:X event, at Cadiz in Spain, should definitely drum up some widespread interest ahead of London 2012 – where many of the same racers will be battling it out for Olympic Gold.
Something to break the ice now (apologies) – a video of the coldest action we’ve seen so far this year from Liapynten in Southern Norway. With temperatures at minus 3 celcius, this intrepid sailor headed out for the chance to score some 9-metre weather, dedication. Perhaps the soundtrack should be renamed to ‘A View to a Chill’ (last pun, promise).
Action from much warmer climes now as we round up what the top-flight sailors are doing around the world. British ripper and recent Tabou signing Phil Horrocks is out in Cape Town and certainly seems to be getting on with his new boards – big aerials and tweaked pushies galore at ripandslash.com
Dutch freestyler Remko de Zeeuw is out training in Tenrife at the moment and F2 have uploaded a great album of him tearing it up – check it out here. According to Remko it has been super windy and with similar reports from World Champion Sarah-Quita Offringa and UK Wavehead James Randall on Facebook, we’re sure there willl be more photos and video soon from Tenerife.
UK Youth Slalom Champion Sam Latham has redesigned and relaunched his website, check it out here.
A quick reminder now; Crossing The Limits producer Jakub Kosmowski will be hosting a live web chat tomorrow for anyone interested in the documentary-series following the 2012 PWA World Tour. More info is available here. It seems to be a popular day for live chats as our UK sister-site Boards.co.uk will be hosting a live-chat interview with multiple World Champion Antoine Albeau. From 11.30am (GMT) tune in for the opportunity to put your questions to one of the world’s greatest racers.
We wrap up the AM update with an interview with another World Champion, this time it’s Matt Pritchard. Thanks to the guys at Fish Bowl Diaries for a great interview and be sure to check out the brilliant photography from Amorphia too – click here for a particularly cracking shot.
Check back later for our PM update with some top video action.
