News Headlines – Weds 2nd

With the PWA Freestyle event wrapping up in Austria yesterday, we bring you the video action from Day Four. Andy \’Bubble\’ Chambers introduces the action from Podersdorf…

The final day at Podersdorf saw extremely light winds and no competition, meaning that Fanatic/North rider Gollito Estredo is back on top of the rankings. It was an all-Caribbean podium with Taty Frans and Kiri Thode from Bonaire taking second and third respectively. World Champion Steven van Broeckhoven struggled to throw down his regular massive power moves in the lighter winds and finished in fourth place. Korea is the next stop for the PWA, with the Slalom fleets launching into action on Saturday. You can follow all the action in Korea and read the full report from Austria on the PWA website here.

Brandwave Marketing, Europe\’s only dedicated actionsports marketing agency, have been busy animating again. Their latest project was producing an intro/outro graphic for the Official Test Centre. We like the Terminator style animation! For more info on Brandwave check out their website here or get all of the latest news on their Facebook page here. Remember this clip from OTC rider Adam Lewis in Tenerife? Check out the graphic in action…

Speaking of the OTC, this weekend they were hosts to the second stop on the British Slalom Association tour. A great fleet turned out to race in some full-power conditions, with taster sessions for beginners running alongside and a great party night with live music. The event was a big success and shows how healthy the slalom scene is in the UK. Hopefully the Olympic site at Weymouth will deliver some similar winds for the RS:X fleets this summer!

The team at Club Vass have landed in resort and are busy getting things up and running before the summer season kicks off. With the weather hotting up and the infamous \’Eric\’ wind pattern already starting to blow, it is set to be a great summer in Vassiliki. Check out their Facebook page to get all the hot offers for a windsurf holiday in Greece.

With no action yet in Vassiliki, the Globalshots team urge us to support their riders Adam Lewis and Chris \’Muzza\’ Murray. The British duo have just signed up for the Red Bull Storm Chase¬†which opened it\’s doors for registration yesterday. With big names like Phil Horrocks, Alex Mussolini, Mikey Clancey and Allessio Stillrich already registered, who will the final 10 riders be? 3 massive storms (force Ten-plus!) will be tracked, hunted down and ridden by the most extreme wavesailors on the planet. Keep your eyes peeled for more news on the official website.

Globalshots\’ Team Rider, World Freestyle Champion and freshly-crowned European Tow-In Champion Steven van Broeckhoven has a new signature fin. Choco Fins are happy to announce the launch of the new Starfish B-72. With a slightly different shape and sizes to the existing popular Starfish fins, the B-72 seems to be working for Steven! Check it out for yourself here.

The K4 Fins team also have some news. Team rider Steve King has recently returned to the UK following a year in New Zealand. Steve has scored some great conditions down in Cornwall and is ripping on the yellow fins! More HERE.

Ahead of the Goya Windsurfing Festival in Santa Cruz, the American Windsurfing Tour have named their latest Rider of the Week. It\’s the turn of the super-stylish Levi Siver today, so check out the interview on the AWT website to get the lowdown…

Danish race maching Kurosh Kiani¬†has updated his cool website with a report from the recent PWA slalom event at Reggio Calabria. Entitled \’A Long Week in Italy\’, Kurosh covers the frustration that comes with a windless event and looks forward to Korea… Read all about it here.

We\’ll be back later with some more video action, see you for the PM update…
