The infamous Defi Wind event at Gruissan in South France kicks off for the twelfth time on Thursday. 2012 sees over 850 sailors registered for the long-distance race of over 25 miles. Alongside the incredible action (imagine nearly a thousand windsurfers charging across the start line!) there will be a host of on-land activities, including live music from 15 bands, a windsurf movie festival and huge parties. John Skye took the win at Day One of the British Wavesailing Assocation event in Ireland in some windy conditions. He\’s stoked to have won and has posted a short update on his blog HERE. The Boards.co.uk crew have been on hand all day today, uploading a blow-by-blow account of the competition.
