It\’s Albeau all the way home in the Slalom 42 at Pozo. Albeau visibly and clearly was faster than everyone else, taking two firsts out of three races as the rest of the fleet fall behind. In one race Albeau was half a leg back and then fell in. The swim must have woken him up because he then waterstarted and started going twice as fast as everyone else to finish and incredible 4th place.
Bjorn Dunkerbeck is lying in second and has not really been on Albeaus pace, his consistency has put him where he is. The courses were your standard 5 leg downwind slalom and most were on 5.8 sails. From the beach the pin end of the start line always seemed to be favoured, yet Dunkerbeck always started at the boat end, meaning for a lot of the race he was playing catch up. In one round he only just qualified for the final!
Kevin Pritchard lies in 3rd, and so far is the only one to beat the Antoine Albeau. Micah Buzianis and Finan Maynard have had many mixed results despite both appearing in the top 3 of some races. Matt Pritchard marked his return to slalom by logging a second overall in the second race.
With 3 races underway, the course is set should they need to go into action after todays double elimination of the womens freestyle. Expect to see Laure Treboux and Nayra Alonso working their way back up the ladder.
