Weymouth Speed Week…

Despite yesterday\’s nuking conditions with 50knot gusts, the windsurfing battalion led by Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Dave White and Dan Ellis could not regain the new Weymouth Speed Week record, despite all beating Bjorn Dunkerbecks previous record several times.

The angle of the wind meant that the course was not so fast, beam reaching in 50knot gusts and fairly severe chop really held the windsurfers back. Earlier in the week the winds were at a lot better angle. To say the windsurfers are a little bit miffed is a little of an understatement.

That aside, the week has been really succesful with loads of windsurfers and individual records being smashed, there is also a really high youth and junior contingent.

The winds had eased today, although there was still a solid twenty knots blowing down the course, not enough for any records to be smashed though, it seems that a Kitesurfer from Southampton has eased the title from the Mighty Bjorn Dunkerbeck.
