Hundreds of people gathered along the promenade to watch the bikini vollyball, tow in windsurfing with a jet-ski, display mountain biking with jump ramp and wakeboarding – the highlights of this beautiful, but breezeless weekend. The kitesurfing event was held for the pro men and ladies on Friday. Things looked promising from first thing, but the wind rapidly dropped off through out the day. Competitors were on their biggest kites and still not going anywhere apart from down wind fast!! Some of the best moves in the heats were back loops, kite pack downs and the occasional kite relaunch!! Was certainly a big shame though as some of Britain‚s top riders including Neal Hilder, Lewis Crathern, Tom Cout, Denzil Williams, Jo Ciastula, Jo Wilson and Kirsty Jones were ready and raring to go! (Incidentally Jo Ciastula is from the UK, but lives in Tarifa. He flies for Gaastra International and Animal and he is highly ranked in the PKRA.
1st Jo Ciastula (Gaastra, Animal), 2nd Denzil Williams (F One, Balin), 3rd Robin Snuggs (Flexifoil)
1st Jo Wilson (Cabrinha, Protest), 2nd Kirsty Jones (Flexifoil, Animal), 3rd Annalisa Dovey (Flexifoil, Blue Wahoo)
The next and final KBBT event of the year will be held in the Isle of Wight on the last weekend of October
