The girls stunned us with a great performance and there is little separating them from the pro ladies. Emma Himer a local rider blasted her way through to 1st place landing sick 360\’s, transitions and double back loop from toeside transitions. Keira landed her back loop kite loop in her heat, but was just out the area, so it didn\’t count and both Leanne and Nat rode well. With more comp experience these girls are going to be rippin\’ in the pro\’s next year!!!
1st Emma Himer, 2nd Leanne Basham, 3rd Nat Schauber
The amatuer men put up an incredible performance. There were 18 in total and the action was non-stop. Some of the biggest kite loops of the weekend were seen along with the biggest wipeouts… not mentioning any names Ali Barrett. Spectators lined the beach and cheering could be heard from all the way down the promenade, but there was no stopping a determined Martin Hogg. Matt Colbie was hot on his heals and it was a tough one to calll.

Juniors – I wish I had seem more of this, but I\’m afriad I was out riding, but from where I was I could see Rex Kirby busting out kite loops and handle passes and Sean Murphy answering right back with some solid kite loops and nice riding!! I promise to follow them more closely next event because I\’m afraid for the pro men next year. Watch this space!
