UKWA Welsh Cup

Tenby.. Somewhere in Wales!

The Welsh Cup saw a new name on the top of the Formula fleet podium, that of Youth Sailor Dan Simpson. Dan is the first person for a while to break Keith Atkinsons reign. Although Dan became Welsh Champion, there was only one race due to the really light conditions. Keith Atkinson tweaked a muscle in his back and took the decision to retire. (must be coming with age as the previous night it was his birthday, Keith getting lashed up Greek style… or so the say).

Again it was the Juniors fleet which saw the action, with 43 entrants who completed six races. As usual it was Ali Masters at the front, only dropping one race win. Sam Latham who is bigger than Ali did well to stay in second with Sophie Bailey the first girl and third overall.

Kim Jiskoot won his first ever National RS:X event, the smaller fleet managed to fit 5 races in as did the Raceboard fleet which was won by Dave Gilchrist with Tom Naylor close in second place.

The next event is this coming weekend at Hove in West Sussex. It is going to be a big one with perfect winds forecast for racing..
