The Ocean Carnival supported by Hove Lagoon Watersports, Bloc and Eurovans.
Somehow whilst most of the country was experiencing rain so heavy you thought the world might come to an end, Hove in East Sussex managed to catch a pocket of sunshine and hold an extremely succesful windsurfing event. In total there were 10 slalom races, one long distance race and 3 rounds of freestyle. The conditions were not the windiest, gusting up to 20knots.
The closest run competition of the day was the top flight slalom. Guy Cribb making a return to racing was taken to the wire by previous Formula National champion Alan Jackson. By the end of the event they were on equal points, in this situation it goes to the highest discard. Unfortunately for Alan he slipped down to second place and watched the Hove title slip into the hands of Cribby… (we presume that this time Cribby decided to drive to Hove, rather than sail).
Adam Humphrey also made his return to competition, picking up the amateur freewave title whilst Sam Neal walked away with the youth title.
The next UKWA event is the Eastbourne Extreme festival over the weekend of the 14th-15th July.
