The typical Pozo conditions (nuclear wind and good swell) have given way to the Calima wind which is literally much calmer!! This gusty wind provided interesting conditions for Round 2 of the Women\’s freestyle, but still the standard was high. Flakas, shakas, one-handed spocks, grubbies, e-sliders….the girls are as good as any national men\’s event, certainly in the UK anyway.
Sarah Quita Offringa from Aruba beat Daida Moreno in the final although it was very close with Daida forcing Sara to a re-match after winning the first heat. Iballa Moreno did really well today beating Nagoshi, Alonso & Alba before her sister out did her in the relatively flat seas.
RACE 4 took all afternoon to complete in the Slalom competition as the wind became very shifty and light. But by 5pm, the final 12 sailors headed out to the start line. Antoine Albeau is now in full swing and won his third race in a row with Micah Buzianis in second, Kevin Pritchard in third and Bjorn Dunkerbeck in fourth.
More freestyle & slalom action tommorow.
