Shocks all round today at Pozo. Firstly in the ladies freestyle, Junko Nagoshi knocked hot favourite Sarah Quita Offringa out early and yesterdays on form Iballa Moreno yet again cruised to the final. Laure Treboux won her first ever final after meeting Junko Nagoshi in the semi final, and then keeping ahead of Daida Moreno to take the overall ladies second single elimination. This means that it is the turn of Sarah Quita to come through the ranks if she wants to keep in the top 3 and win the event. At present Daida Rueno Moreno is just 0.7 points ahead of Laure Treboux. Despite not winning any finals, Daida is leading the event with 2 second places.
A big French man will tell you about consistency. Antoine Albeau is leading the slalom after a day of exciting racing including a couple of long distance races. Albeau was lucky though, he failed to qualify for a final. Two of his rivals for the title Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Micah Buzianis were then disqualified, such was the intensity.
Ross Williams kept up his winning form by winning two races in a row and is now sitting comfortably in the top ten, what he needs to concentrate on now is how to achieve the consistency of his boss and team mate Matt Pritchard who is playing a cool game and sitting comfortably in second overall, after the two discards.
More drama tomorrow..
