As the end of the season approaches the main Northern Hemisphere windsurfing nations start to confirm their overall champions, not least that of the cold lakes of Slovenia.
Tine Slabe, a regular on the PWA slalom tour, is unusual for a freestyle windsurfer. Towering at 6\’6″ he is still a master of freestyle as well as an excellent racer and wave sailor.
Held last weekend at Punta of Izola, the Slovenian Freestyle championship delivered 25 knots of wind, cold temperatures and rough water, challenging Slovenia’s best freestylers. The single elimination showed just how good the Slovenian riders are, with a high level of sailing and all the latest moves including really high shakas, e-sliders, and ponches. At the end of the day, Naish Sails Rider Tine Slabe emerged as the winner and new 2007 Slovenian Freestyle Champion.
