It’s pretty rare to see clips coming out of Brazil this early in the season, yet this quality edit from Max Brinnich (owner of BR Fins) saw him spend August and September in Jericoacoara. We spoke with him and he told us he had wind for sail sizes 4.2 and down for 95% of the trip, and it shows. An awesome cut with some truly stunning shots, this is one of our most favourite videos to have ever come out of this world famous destination.
A few words with Brinnich…
BS: Why did you choose to go to Jeri during the summer months?
MB: Basically I wanted to try something new. I always wanted to go to Jeri, but the usual Jeri season, October, November, December, is just impossible for me because of university. So I tried to go to Jeri already mid of July.
BS: It’s not exactly the peak season, did you not think it was a risky decision to go at this time of the year?
MB: I mean everybody I asked told me that it was windy there in summer but to be safe why don’t I just go in the Autumn. But I dont know. I think I talked with Dieter (van der Eyken) about it last year in France. He told me that I should not be scared that there could be no wind, I should be happy because there are less people. Actually I have to say that I liked it more in July and the beginning of August because there were almost no people at the main spot, and you had quite a bit of room for crashing.. The later it got the more busy it became, still not crowded but I didn’t enjoy it so much then! It was windy every single day and I used 4.2 like 95% of the time!
